Black River Remedial Action Plan - Coordinating Committee

12/22 -- A plan has been developed by River stakeholders that promises to improve the health and diversity of resident fish communities, preserve and restore aquatic, riparian and adjacent terrestrial habitats of the lower Black River in a manner that is consistent with the City of Lorain's vision for the area, including social and cultural interaction, recreational access and use, and development and public infrastructure.

11/13 -- The health of the entire Black River natural resource can benefit from efforts to protect and restore the vast network of its tributary streams, both large and very small. Headwater streams greatly influence the water and habitat quality of downstream areas. 10/27 -- The City of Elyria, through funding made available by NOAA and ODNR's Office of Coastal Management, has developed a Greenway and Trail Master Plan that addresses current and future needs of the city for recreational trails, trails as alternative transportation, the health of the Black River resources found in Elyria, the conveyance of stormwater into the river and the potential ecotourism connection opportunities to the region.
